June 30, 2012. After work I made another swing by the lakefront, and again witnessed people jumping in. This particular guy went for something a little bigger than the usual jump.

Day 303 - Hoser
June 29, 2012. My first visit to LiveWire Lounge was to see Rotten Finko & The Convicts with the Down-Fi. I liked the place. It's small, with a decent stage, and a decent sound system as well. The bartender played good music between bands and their calendar looks interesting. It's sort of in the middle of nowhere, if that makes sense in a city the size of Chicago, and that's a nice change of pace when you live in Wicker Park. Here's Hoser tearing it up with Rotten Finko. A few months ago, Hoser showed me one of his road cases, which was festooned with stickers from several bands, some of whom I know from Austin, as well as The Bricks ATX, my last band from Austin.
Day 302 - Ruby Slippers
June 28, 2012. It's possible the shoes aren't necessary to get through the gate. I didn't try. For now, though, let's assume that the ruby slippers got her to the other side.
Day 301 - Mopes
June 27, 2012. Shereen and I went out to dinner in our neighborhood and then walked over to a new arcade and bar called The Emporium. I shot these mopeds parked on the sidewalk outside before we went in. They didn't have the game Shereen most wanted to play, and the game she wanted to play the most in the arcade had a line, so we went home without buying tokens. It really looked like a fun place to hang out when you do want to play around on a lot of old school arcade games without wading through kids.

Day 300 - Cruiser
June 26, 2012. This afternoon, while walking Malicous, I came across this cruiser. Lube that chain, Mr. Fuzzy Dice!

Day 298 - Sailor
June 24, 2012. Chicago's Pride Parade featured, for the first time, a group of openly gay sailors from Great Lakes Naval Station north of Chicago.
Day 297 - J.
June 23, 2012. After work Saturday, I caught two bands at Wicker Park's Green Music Fest. First was Bailiff, from Chicago. They were quite good, and I'm curious to hear the songs recorded. Then I saw the legendary, and legendarily loud, Dinosaur Jr. It was a pretty fantastic show. Maybe you were there. A whole lot of people were.
Day 296 - Furious Frank
June 22, 2012. Yesterday, you were introduced to Travis and Seung-a, who were members of Furious Frank when we moved to Chicago. They no longer are, but it's interesting that Travis's current band played Thursday night, and I caught his former band Friday night. Furious Frank played at Quenchers Saloon, which I first visited to see Austin band Broken Teeth, along with the Bricks ATX former labelmates, The Vibrolas. Broken Teeth had a Travis playing as well. That was a fair bit of blathering. Here's what I was saying: This is Furious Frank at Quenchers Saloon.

Day 295 - Seung-a and Travis
June 21, 2012. Seung-a and Travis are friends Shereen and I made after moving to Chicago, even though Travis lived in Austin and we had overlapping social circles. His current band, Horse King, played a show at the Township where I took this photo of the two of them. Tomorrow I plan on seeing his former band, Furious Frank, at another club in Logan Square. I should probably sleep now.
Day 294 - On The Platform (42)
June 20, 2012. This was the third wedding anniversary for me and Shereen. We went downtown and had a celebratory dinner, and I caught this scene in the Blue Line station on the way back home.

Day 293 - Heating Up The Paint
June 19, 2012. Armitage Avenue had been a wreck for a couple of months while road crews replaced pipes under the street, but seem to have the final surface on at last. Stripes are also being returned to the street at last.

Day 292 - Humidity
June 18, 2012. Today was apparently quite hot and humid by Chicago standards. I thought it was kind of pleasant. This guy is headed east, and I'm not sure if he plans to keep riding into Lake Michigan, or if this is a testament to the humidity.
Day 291 - Patrick Nyarko
June 17, 2012. What a fabulous day. The Chicago Fire game was early, so I ate some breakfast, took a shower, and left for the game. Being asked to help with the Megabandera, the giant banner which would cover one entire end of the stadium before the game, turned into a field pass to shoot photos. Had I known, I would have brought the good lens. I chatted with my Dad for a little while before the game when it was not yet too loud in the stadium (it was Father's Day, after all). I shot the game from the field, and the Fire beat the New York Red Bulls 3-1. I was home in the evening with time to order delicious Thai food from Kin.

Day 290 - Blue Felt
June 16, 2012. We visited our friend Amy for a barbecue (all veg, yay!), and it started to rain after we had eaten. We came inside and made our way down to her basement for some pool.
Day 289 - Mali and Daniel
June 15, 2012. Malicous extends a licking tongue toward Daniel. Daniel had helped me build shelves in the basement. He also hangs out with Mali when Shereen and I both will be at work at the same times all day. Daniel is very much appreciated at our place for his willingness to do that. You can see that Mali likes it.

Day 288 - Whatcha Want?
June 14, 2012. The June edition of Get Physical, with the Fabulous Ladies of Fitness, was a tribute to Beastie Boy MCA. I thought it was imperative to shoot with the fisheye lens, and the results are fantastic.
Day 287 - Black Wall
June 13, 2012. A scene from Milwaukee Avenue after my dinner at Native Foods. She's at the location of Championship Vinyl in the movie High Fidelity.
Day 286 - The News
June 12, 2012. Malicous went to the vet for his annual checkup. There was the usual, for an old dog - losing weight, developing cataracts. There was the usual for Mali - continued degeneration of nerves, resulting in hind legs that don't always work, and several cysts. Then there was the terrible news that one of those cysts was actually cancer. I didn't know how much longer he'd be able to walk, and did know that might affect how much time he had left, but now I'm more concerned about how long he'll still be with us. I have, unfortunately, been in this situation several times, and the heartbreak is tremendous every time. Right now, though, he IS still with us, and he gives and receives love like he always has, he still loves his walks, still puts up with his abusive little cat brother (who will be 17 in a month, and no less ornery, I'm sure), and I'm not going to start mourning or missing him yet.

Day 285 - Polar Bear
June 11, 2012. Another hot day, and a great excuse to play in the water - especially if you happen to be a polar bear. I made a pass through Lincoln Park Zoo after work. I left the zoo on the east side and walked over to the lagoon. A whole lot of birds flew away, but one flapped a lot and kept running into a tree. There was a massive ball of discarded fishing line tied around the tree, and the bird's leg was caught in it. Fortunately, there was a knife in my backpack, so I reeled the bird toward me and cut the line as close as I could. I cut the fishing line off of the tree and cursed the jerk who left his dangerous (to birds, at least) trash in the park as I walked it twenty yards to a trash can.
Day 284 - Emiliano
June 10, 2012. A cool kid who I finally had the pleasure of meeting, Emiliano came over and helped us cook dinner after going to the movies with my wife and a friend. His family appears in my 365 project more than anyone, maybe including my dog and cat.

Day 283 - World Naked Bike Ride
June 9, 2012. Tonight I saw my fourth Chicago Naked Bike Ride. It was somewhat difficult finding a photo without "too much" nudity to use for my 365 photo. This one does just fine. In the coming days, I will process more photos and post a WNBR 2012 set on flickr.

Day 282 - Emerging
Thursday, June 7, 2012
Day 281 - Woodie Wagon
June 7, 2012. Like yesterday's photo, this was taken on Milwaukee Avenue. I worked later today, so there's no squinting necessary. I was surprised to see this Buick Electra Estate wagon in traffic. I don't often see station wagons on the street anymore.
Day 280 - Into the Sunset
June 6, 2012. It seems to me that in Chicago the sun lingers low enough to be in my eyes for a large portion of the day. Sunglasses sometimes make it harder for me to see due to refraction and reflections around the frames. I have found myself on occasion doing what this girl is doing - riding with my eyes closed for short stretches.

Day 279 - Upside Down
June 5, 2012. I had a fantastic shoot with model Echo Nittolitto. This is a quick edit of one of the shots, and I can hardly wait to get through the rest. Shooting with Echo was quite enjoyable, and I hope to do it again in the future.

Day 277 - Schnauzer in a Muscle Car
June 3, 2012. Biking home from band practice, I rolled up next to a Dodge Challenger with a very inquisitive Miniature Schnauzer in the window.
Sunday, June 3, 2012
Day 276 - Blind Staggers
June 2, 2012. After work, I trotted down to Do Division Street Fest. Every year in Chicago, I've imagined that I'd hit up several street festivals and block parties, which occur at least two at a time from mid-May to September. Do Division is the first one I made it to this year, and I hope to make several more before fall comes. This is a photo of the Blind Staggers, playing their first street festival. Damien was pretty thrilled by it and they look forward to more in the future.
Day 275 - Slow
June 1, 2012. On my way to work I spotted this worker at an intersection. She reminded me of the Imperial Guard in Star Wars, and I was happy about the leading line of traffic cones.
Day 274 - Rainy Commute
May 31, 2012. It seems like most of our April showers this year took place in May. This is the last day of May, so maybe June will be full of May flowers. There is a Metra train track going over me, so the bulk of the rain is being blocked, even though it looks like I'm not at all sheltered. It was raining hard enough that this was the only spot I slipped my camera out from under my jacket. I find my least favorite part of riding in the rain is wet socks.
Day 273 - Rogue
May 30, 2012. Man with a Moog Rogue has been on walls for months, sometimes upside-down, sometimes cut out around the figure. Like most things pasted up in the city, this one shows signs of attempts to peel it off the wall.
