February 27, 2014. I wondered if I was witnessing a luxury repo when a Ferrari with its alarm sounding came down Wabash Avenue followed by a tow truck. I came to suspect it was going for service after seeing the driver, but I guess it looks like either option is possible. After turning the corner, the car went up onto a flatbed tow truck that was sitting there and would be much kinder to the car than the traditional tow truck that had followed it down Wabash.

210/365 - Ruperts
February 26, 2014. A couple of pieces by Rupert hang out in the doorway of a vacant storefront in Wicker Park.
209/365 - Naked Safari
February 25, 2014. I live near a place that supplies mannequins and other display items to businesses. The mannequins in the window occasionally have an item of clothing on, but it's rare. This one has a hat that suggests she's ready for a safari, but I believe she needs something with pockets as well.
208/365 - Hues
February 24, 2014. While waiting for a Pink Line train, I saw this graffitoed Orange Line train make a stop at Adams and Wabash.

207/365 - In Your Face
February 23, 2014. The final day of the Winter Punk Fest in Grand Rapids was not lacking for energy. I had some doubt that we in Squared Off would be able to maintain it, but there was no letting up for us, either. Before we played, Rabbit Ain't Lucky tore the place up. Here's our guitarist Larry getting really close to the action.
206/365 - Matt and Jeff
February 22, 2014. Squared Off traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the Winter Punk Fest and had a great time playing sets both Saturday and Sunday. We also enjoyed meeting a bunch of great people, such as Jeff Baird from The Bitters, being squeezed by my bass player Matt here.
205/365 - The C-Sides
February 21, 2014. I played a show at the Cobra Lounge with Squared Off and photographed the C-Sides, who also played. Jim, on the right, lamented that his only appearance in my photo-a-day was through a car that he's working on. So here's Jim with the C-Sides, with popeyed Davey from The Hard-Onz gesturing in the background. There was no direction; this is just what happens when you point a camera at the C-Sides.
204/365 - The Fog
February 20, 2014. It warmed up a lot! Up to 40ºF! The rise in temperature came with rain and fog, but I have a rainsleeve for my camera, so Onward Through The Fog! (Oat Willie's, that's where you've heard that, you handful of people from Austin.)
203/365 - Winter Hoops
February 19, 2014. Between work and band practice, I strolled around Union Park, where I found this photo of the snow-covered basketball courts and the Sears (Willis, whatever) Tower.
202/365 - Curly
February 18, 2014. Walking up the street with my friend Tara, I was a little startled by a Stooge named Curly peering out of a building as we passed.
201/365 - Parka
February 17, 2014. On a snowy Presidents' Day after work, Martin and I crossed paths with this winterized woman under the covered entrance to the Palmer House. We were on our way to Macy's on State Street to take advantage of a sale on Levi's. We both guessed too small when taking our first pairs of jeans off the rack.

200/365 - Reclining
February 16, 2014. Not that I was trying to celebrate day 200, but if I were, a shoot with Mizz Amanda Marie would be a good way to do it. I have a significant amount of editing to do with a handful of shoots and shows to work through. Working with Amanda was fantastic, and I'm looking forward to another opportunity to work with her.

199/365 - Handheld
February 15, 2014. Today's scene comes from my walk to the train after work. As I was heading to a band meeting, this couple may have been at the beginning of an evening out.

198/365 - Ephemeral Geology
February 14, 2014. Heading home from the train before it was dark for a change, I took neighborhood streets and found this pile of snow sculpted by shoveling and colored by exhaust.
197/365 - Phone Check
February 13, 2014. I had an event at night that I was just too tired to attend, so I chose my photo from the handful I shot during the day. On my way home, I spotted this guy riding on the back of a recycling truck and checking his phone. Although it's a bit blurry, I quite like it.

196/365 - Formation
February 12, 2014. I quite like the near symmetry of the Logan Square Blue Line station, and this formation of commuters walking ahead of me to the Spaulding exit was enticing. Also enticing were those legs on those shoes.
195/365 - Elevated
February 11, 2014. When I leave work in the Loop to go to band practice, I can take one of two trains - a Green Line train that travels north from Adams and Wabash or a Pink Line train that travels south. I have to figure out which one is coming next in order to choose a platform. This night, my view of the monitor on the northbound platform was blocked by a train, so I ran up to the walkway over the tracks in case I needed to switch sides. While up there, I got a few photos, including this one of a Brown Line train heading north with the Trump Tower in the background.
194/365 - Helpful Postman
February 10, 2014. After work, I witnessed a man trying to dig his car out of an icy snow pile with the help of a postman.
193/365 - Fiat
February 9, 2014. I visited the Chicago Auto Show for the first time, and saw a lot of new cars, some prototypes and concept cars. This particular one is Fiat's 1957 Edition of their Fiat 500. It was, of course, displayed with a shapely model.

192/365 - Winter Bride
February 8, 2013. Taking photos in the snow downtown, I found myself at Millennium Park unable to resist the allure of The Cloud Gate, the giant mirrored bean that dares you to not take a picture. The snow made it a little different, and justified the photos to me. As I was leaving, a bride and groom, with photographer in tow, arrived with no apparent regard for the weather conditions. They took photos at The Bean, then near the Pritzker Pavilion, and then went up the pedestrian bridge that leads to the Modern Wing of the Art Institute, which must have been the site of their wedding. I continued shooting until my camera batteries gave out, and went back home.
191/365 - Profiles
February 7, 2014. On my way to the train after work, I caught this near silhouette of a woman and a bicycle on Adams Street.
190/365 - Pete's The Drummer
February 6, 2014. Once or twice a year I get to meet up with my friend Bryan, and this was a day to do that. He's currently touring as guitar player for Elf Power who played two nights with Neutral Milk Hotel at the Riviera Theater in Chicago. I photographed Elf Power's set and soundcheck, where I got this photo of drummer Peter Alvanos. The show was utterly fantastic. I recommend catching any of the remaining dates on the tour if you can.

189/365 - Adjustments
February 5, 2014. Tonight we had a Squared Off rehearsal, preparing for live shows and a new album. Of course we all fiddled with our gear to get the sounds we liked, or were willing to live with.
188/365 - Making Daylight
February 4, 2014. I found a film crew at work downtown, with a rig containing several large bright lights (the dark areas of the photo are lit by the subdued winter sun by contrast) to illuminate the inside of the building with artificial daylight.

187/365 - Falling Mice
February 3, 2014. I have found the financial district for mice at Adams and Michigan Avenues in Chicago, and it seems the market is not doing very well. Heads up!
186/365 - Unhung
February 2, 2014. While much of my apartment is settled, there are still quite a few things that need taking care of, such as putting things on the walls. Here's quite a few of the offerings that could make it onto the walls, including a Shepard Fairey portrait of Joey Ramone, a few Jim FitzPatrick prints, and quite a few of my photographs.

185/365 - Tiffany
February 1, 2014. I'm playing in Milwaukee tonight with Squared Off, provided the snowfall doesn't prevent us from getting there. A show is always a good chance to get photos, but I'm going with my morning today. I had a photoshoot with Tiffany Nacke, who was happy to get into my chilly crawlspace, as well as shooting some warmer, more softly lit sets. Now it's time for grilled cheese before hitting the road.
184/365 - Camo Napper
January 31, 2014. A man got on the train downtown in hunting boots and jacket and went to napping. I figured he had a weekend hunting or fishing trip lined up, since it was a Friday evening. He didn't really look like he would be going to an EDM festival, other than the neon orange of his camouflage coat, but who knows?
