August 23, 2012. With a week to go, this probably should have been our 365 wrap party. Four of us began at the same time on September 1, 2011. Two got sporadic, and, I suppose, quit doing the 365. Hannah and i kept up with it, but Hannah will have left Chicago before we're done in a week. We went out as a final hurrah for a group of friends (there's still a going-away party though) and had a blast that ended up in Lake Michigan.
In September I plan to continue with themed months (or weeks) until the end of 2012. In 2013 I plan to do a weekly portrait rather than a daily photo. I'm open to suggestion for themes for the rest of the year, though. 365 Crew, I salute you!

Day 358 - 365 Crew
Day 357 - Painting
August 22, 2012. Walking on my lunch break, I caught these guys painting a building in Lincoln Park. This is a few blocks down the same street as the building in the previous photo. I guess it's that time of year.
Day 356 - Sanding
August 21, 2012. Walking on my lunch break, I caught these guys sanding a building in preparation for painting.

Day 355 - Bridgehouse
August 20, 2012. After work, I met my wife Shereen and some of her family downtown for an Architecture Boat Tour. While I agree with Shereen that this one wasn't as good as the one we took previously, I still really enjoyed it. I would have had a great time without the guide, too, just cruising up and down the Chicago River around sunset. Of all the touristy things to do, I think this is probably my favorite. One of these days, I need to try a bus tour, too. I imagine it's pretty cool to see the city from the open top of a double decker bus.
Day 354 - Kristine and Adam
August 19, 2012. The reason that much of Shereen's family was in town the past few days was the wedding of her cousin, Adam. Here he is with his bride Kristine in Mount Prospect, Illinois early in their lovely wedding ceremony.

Day 353 - Ami and Abu
August 18, 2012. It's a busy weekend. JJ and Renee are in town visiting, and Shereen's parents and siblings arrived today, along with her sister's kids. The Air & Water Show is this weekend as well, so I had an abbreviated experience there with JJ and Renee before hauling it back home to prepare for the in-laws. I missed the Blue Angels, but I saw a bit of their practice on Friday, and they rattled my windows for a while as I worked on house stuff this afternoon. Tomorrow one of Shereen's cousins is getting married, which I suppose will preempt the celebration of Eid. If I were already in bed, I probably could have gone to see the first couple of hours of the Air & Water show again tomorrow, but I'm not in bed yet.
Day 352 - Dr. Horrible Read-Along
August 17, 2012. Pizza night! A couple of friends, JJ and Renee, arrived from out of town, and a few others came over for pizza, among them, two seventeen-year-olds. They found some amusement in trying to touch our demon cat without being maimed (that worked out fine, without injury), but really lit up when they were shown to our crates of comic books. The most fun seemed to be reading Dr. Horrible, each adopting characters and assigning them different voices. I wished we'd had another copy so I could follow along. It really was as fun as it looks.
Day 351 - Sushi Partner
August 16, 2012. We thought we'd go to Antique Tacos for dinner, but there were about twenty people in front of us in line and there were already no vacant tables indoors or out, so we went to Nori up the street instead. I had delicious sweet potato fries with a honey wasabi sauce, a few veggie maki rolls, and a really tasty yakisoba. The whole time, I had this imposing fellow staring right at me. Maybe I should have given him a sweet potato fry.

Day 350 - Tequila
August 15, 2012. Before Hannah's last day at work, several coworkers took her out for fajitas and tequilas. Mal found this giant bottle next to our table. Alas, it was empty.
Day 349 - Men's Apparel
August 14, 2012. I found a spot and stayed a few minutes for a change. Most of the time, I'm biking or walking the whole time I'm out, and grab what I can. I still missed stuff, just because of the numbers of people, cars, and bikes in motion interrupting my photo ops or veering the wrong direction when they were the photo ops. I originally missed this guy walking toward me across all three streets in the intersection because I turned to my right too late to get the shot, but I wanted it. A couple of minutes later I settled for this shot of him on the other side of the street looking like he was about to come back. I'm not sure he was actually familiar with this intersection.

Day 348 - Sleepy Dog
August 13, 2012. It was a zombie day for me. I slept most of it, and just did stuff in the house for the rest of it. Before finally going to sleep around 4 the next morning, I took some shots of the sleeping dog. He woke up enough to look at me like I was crazy, but he didn't move anything but his head.

Day 347 - Getting Physical
Day 346 - Dave Simon
Day 345 - Shitty Day
August 10, 2012. The day the drain spewed its crap through the floor in my lab. The crap also rained down in the basement below me. It was a nasty experience even if we didn't have to deal with the drain pipe. I went down in the basement at one point to see the plumber at the end of an open pipe about six inches in diameter covered in blackish brownish nastiness. He had a large trash can and a mop bucket below him, both full of sewage, and still receiving a steady stream of filthy water which just overflowed onto the floor. TGIF!

Day 341 - Beaned!
August 6, 2012. I've never been hit by a baseball thrown at full force anywhere but in my glove. Monday night I saw Alexei Ramirez get hit by one though, and he went down clutching his arm and lay face down for a little bit before getting up and having his arm looked at by a trainer. Even then, he looked shaky for a few more minutes. He may or may not have wanted a more physical revenge, but at least the White Sox beat pitcher Luis Mendoza and the Kansas City Royals by a score of four to two, with two home runs.
Day 340 - Alex
August 5, 2012. I joined my friend Leland at Schuba's to see one of the first shows by new band Divine Fits. Its members are Britt Daniel of Spoon, Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade, and Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks. Alex Fischel plays with them on keyboards, and occasionally guitar or bass. Leland and I were chatting with Alex before the show when I took this photo. It's really an excellent band, and I look forward to their album which will be out at the end of August. You can hear some stuff online and I recommend them.

Day 339 - No Photos Today
August 4, 2012. A day without any real photos. There were opportunities. I thought if I woke up early enough, I might go shoot some photos around Lollapalooza before going to a soccer game later. I didn't wake up early enough, then bailed out of the soccer game. I had a friend's band playing a show in my neck of the woods, and a party invite in Pilsen. But Pilsen is kind of a pain to get to, and I would have missed my friend's band, so here I am in Photobooth at the end of the day.
Day 338 - Sonido Tritón
Friday, August 3, 2012
Day 336 - Evening Commute
August 1, 2012. I often take photos of other cyclists. They often look at me with a bit of curiosity as I stand to the side, straddling my bike, pointing my camera down the bike lanes.
